No-exam life insurance
Who qualifies for accelerated underwriting, the way it works, and what to expect if a full exam is needed.
Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting: instead of scheduling a paramedic visit, they make a decision using your application, pharmacy records, driving history, and other data sources. Some approvals come back the same day. When you get a quote here, each one tells you if an exam is needed, probably needed, or not needed for that product.
What it changes
Skipping a medical exam is not skipping underwriting. Your statements are checked, and any error or misstatement on a policy issued within the first two years can be contested. If the underwriter finds something that raises questions, they may still request an exam or blood work; at that point you decide whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people younger than 60 or so, applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated limits, with a clean health history and no tobacco use in the past year. If you have had recent lab work during a doctor visit, some carriers accept those results in place of their own exam.
If an exam is necessary, it is usually a 20- to 30-minute appointment at your home or office in the Sanger area, at no cost. For applicants in good health, the exam results often lead to a better rate class, so it can actually help your final price.
